ColourPop Love Bite & Double Cherry Glossy Lip Stains Reviews & Swatches

Love Bite

ColourPop Love Bite Glossy Lip Stain ($8.00 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a rich, medium-dark red with more excellent pink undertones and a soft sheen. The texture was more watery, thin, and very spreadable initially and then developed into something lighter and clingier; initially, the significantly less liquid/emollient after thirty, the glossiness that it had from the very initial laydown of the product disappeared as the formula dried down.

The product stained somewhat, as it definitely lingered and wore well (six hours), but it wasn’t enough of a stain to endure through even a light meal. The formula was non-drying and flattering to wear, as it did not emphasize my lip lines or texture. It had medium, buildable pigmentation, just as marketed.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.21 oz. – $38.10 Per Ounce

It’s supposed to have the “long-lasting powers of a lip stain” with the “shine of a gloss” paired with “medium to buildable coverage” that is “non-drying.” The initial texture was almost watery and overly spreadable (and the applicator often picked up more product than necessary, so take care during application). Still, it dried down to a more satiny shine that was less glossy and more like satin lipstick with some clarity.

The initial shine wore off within two hours, so it looked like an authentic satin finish–this was true of doing nothing or just taking a drink of glass as it wasn’t transfer-resistant. Left to their own devices, most shades wore around six hours with a faint stain left behind. The color did not power through a meal and tended to leave a solid ring around the edges of my lips as it wore away so quickly while eating.

It had medium, buildable coverage but quickly built to more semi-opaque coverage without an official second layer (just going back and forth to get an even product layer). Some shades were more faithful to medium, and others were more semi-opaque from the first layer. There didn’t seem to be any added fragrance or taste while worn. Double Cherry

ColourPop Double Cherry Glossy Lip Stain ($8.00 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium red with neutral-to-warm undertones and a natural sheen. It was glossier initially, but the formula has a moderate dry down where the more watery consistency became less liquid, slightly clingier, and had more of a satiny sheen.

The initial glossiness disappeared within an hour, so it had an authentic satin finish for most of its life. It had medium pigmentation, buildable to mostly opaque coverage, and the color was applied evenly across my lips. However, I’d recommend using a lighter hand as the applicator picked up much more product than I needed.

It lasted for six hours, and there was some staining power, but it was a weaker stain that couldn’t make it through a meal (it disappeared entirely except for a ring around the edges of my lips).
