ColourPop Take the Cake Blush Review & Swatches

by Joseph K. Clark

ColourPop Take the Cake Pressed Powder Blush ($8.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones paired with a mostly matte finish (there was the faint gold sparkle that didn’t show up once applied). The texture was soft, powdery, and thinner, so it was more prone to adhering firmly–and not blending out–if applied over bare skin or unset foundation. It had rich color coverage, which may be an upside for some, but the blush formula was intended to be buildable, and it took some care to get that result. The color showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.13 oz. – $61.54 Per Ounce

It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with a semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The formula is supposed to go on “smoothly” and have a “natural and healthy flush” that has “long wear” and “can be layered to your desired intensity.” The consistency has a drier, thinner feel, and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the powder blush that can be tricky to blend evenly on the skin, depending on one’s skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would agree, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and were difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average. Browse all of our ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush swatches.
