Coronavirus Vaccine Live Tracker, Covid-19 Cases in India May 4 Live Updates: With over 3.5 lahks new Covid-19 cases, India crossed the 2-crore mark on Tuesday. The health ministry data shows India recorded 3,57,229 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Today’s tally saw a minor dip in the fatality numbers. The May 4 health bulletin says 3,449 Indians died due to Covid-19 infection and related complications. While the national capital Delhi saw the most significant spike with 448 Covid deaths, Maharashtra has steadily declined coronavirus cases. While these numbers are encouraging, the main point is to see whether there has been any change in the testing numbers.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said 15 districts, including Mumbai and Thane, are showing a decline in daily COVID-19 cases. However, other sections are still exhibiting an upward trend in the state. He said the government is targeting to reduce the number of coronavirus infections in the communities with high caseloads. Tope said the state government was in talks with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V manufacturer to arrive at a purchase price for the jab. He said the global expression of interest, floated by the state government for vaccine purchase, has received a good response from companies.
“COVID-19 cases are still on the rise in around 20 districts, including Sangli, Satara, Buldhana, and Kolhapur, and our target is to reduce them,” Tope was quoted as saying by PTI. He said COVID-19 cases are declining daily in 15 districts – Mumbai, Dhule, Nanded, Bhandara, Thane, Nashik, Latur, Nandurbar, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Raigad, Osmabanad, Chandrapur, and Gondia. The minister said that the district administrations in areas where cases are rising have been asked to increase hospital bed capacity.
